1. Johnathan Joseph

Maybe the most important player on the Houston Texans defense isn’t in the front seven, but rather cornerback Johnathan Joseph and his abilities to defend against the Denver receivers. Joseph will most likely be defending DaeSean Hamilton or possibly Emmanuel Sanders on Sunday.

There is also Courtland Sutton to worry about now with the Broncos trading Demaryius Thomas, but no matter who Joseph is defending he has to be playing at a top-tier level. He has an opportunity to have a big game because the Texans front seven should get pressure on Denver quarterback Case Keenum, so if that occurs that will only help Joseph on Sunday.

Joseph is a smart veteran wide receiver and has one interception for a touchdown this season, along with 34 total tackles. Like with fellow Texans player Keke Coutee, Joseph is on the injury report listed as questionable. Joseph was injured in Week 8 with a sprained MCL and has been limited in practice this week.

Next. Justin Reid proving to be an impact player on defense. dark

If Joseph is able to play, he’ll be an important player that will be needed to win this game. The Texans are able to win without him, but their chances are much improved if he’s on the field as his experience could cause problems for the young wide receivers of Denver.
