The Houston Texans have played better football as of late on the defensive side of the ball, but should they try to get even better and trade for maybe the best defensive back in the NFL?

The Houston Texans have played well enough to win their past four games after losing their first three, but there is still improvement to be made on both the offensive and defensive sides of the field. One player who has let it be known to the Arizona Cardinals that he wants to be traded is veteran cornerback Patrick Peterson.

With Peterson wanting out of Arizonam should the Texans work on making a trade with the Arizona Cardinals for a player talented as Peterson, especially if they are able to gain a fifth straight win on Thursday Night Football against the Miami Dolphins?

Currently, the starters for the Texans at cornerback are Aaron Colvin, who is battling injury, along with Johnathan Joseph. There are also cornerbacks Johnson Bademosi and Shareece Wright on the the roster as well.

Quite frankly, the Texans could use the improvement at the cornerback position, especially if Colvin is unable to return this season or is out an extended period of time. Even if he returns, Peterson is an upgrade over anyone currently on the cornerback depth chart.

This season, Peterson — who has played his entire eight-year career with the Cardinals — has played in all seven games , gaining 35 total tackles with one sack, one fumble recovery, two interceptions, three passes defensed and two stuffs.

With a win on Thursday night, the Texans have a good chance to not only make everyone forget about the horrendous start of the season, but guarantee them staying in first place this week no matter what the rest of the division does on Sunday.

A defensive backfield with Peterson, Joseph at cornerback and Kareem Jackson and Tyrann Mathieu at safety, added with the current front seven of the Texans defense, would make for a troublesome way for the opponents of the team to game plan for the rest of the season.

It is always tough to give up between a first- through third-round draft pick, but most likely that will be the price the Texans would have to pay for the top veteran defensive back. If the Texans want to keep getting better and go all-in for the rest of this season, the defense will have to be at a very high level to help offset the struggles of the offensive line and questionable decisions made offensively.

The Texans still have three more division games left on the schedule, and after going 2-1 through the first round of division play, they have a chance to stay in contention for the playoffs. To make those chances even better, a trade for Peterson would help in a great way.

What are your thoughts on a possible trade for Peterson. Would you be all for the Texans trading a high draft choice for the All-Pro veteran cornerback?
