Houston Texans rookie wide receiver Keke Coutee will miss Week 8 with a hamstring injury and he will be missed.

The Houston Texans will be short-handed at their wide receiver position when they face the Miami Dolphins on Thursday Night Football in Week 8 due to a hamstring injury suffered by Keke Coutee in their dominant victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 7.

It can be expected given that it’ll be a short week of practice that the Texans will be cautious in bringing back their rookie wide receiver since he has played a pivotal role in the team’s resurgence.

Since Coutee’s rookie debut vs. the Indianapolis Colts in Week 4, the Texans have won their last four games, it’ll be interesting if the offense will be able to attack the middle of the field with Coutee’s absence on Thursday night against the Dolphins at NRG Stadium.

Coutee’s loss will make the Texans adjust their game plan, but they have enough weapons in the offense to not be completely handicapped. The offense will have to rely on the group of tight ends along with their back up wide receivers Sammie Coates and Vyncint Smith.

Adam Schefter of ESPN wrote the following in his Twitter account about Coutee:

The Texans have placed versatile wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins in the slot in the past and he has proven to be a mismatch for defensive backs and slower linebackers. The Texans have the chance to prolong their winning streak to five games and possibly have a two-game advantage if the rest of the AFC South continues to struggle to win games.

The Texans have come a long way after being 0-3, and they have found a way to win games despite all the injuries that have struck the team and will be forced to do so again on short rest in Week 8.
