Running Back: Christian McCaffrey

This might be an interesting choice in picking Carolina Panthers running back Christian McCaffrey, but it is a different fantasy football selection that some might pass over on Sunday. The Panthers are set to face the the Washington Redskins on the road, but what is likeable about McCaffrey is he not only carries the football, but he ability to catch passes.

This season McCaffrey has 63 rushes for 329 yards, averaging 5.2 yards per carry, but he’s also averaging 7.1 yards per reception, totaling 27 receptions for 192 yards with one touchdown. McCaffrey is really due for a touchdown run and against the defense of the Redskins he just might finally be able to do so.

What could be tough is the Redskins are allowing under 100 yards rushing per game, but they are also pretty good at stopping the pass, allowing just 226 yards passing. Even with the solid numbers, the Redskins still don’t have a winning record entering this game at 2-2 so they are very beatable and not having a good day. Washington allowed 43 points on Monday Night Football against the New Orleans Saints, but the Panthers aren’t the Saints when it comes to offense.

That said, McCaffrey could be just getting started as he’s already almost surpassed what he achieved last year, and seems to be under-the-radar this season. Just keep an eye on McCaffrey in Week 6 and as he could have an interesting day against the Redskins.
