The Houston Texans were led by DeAndre Hopkins in overtime to their second straight victory, this time defeating their in-state rival the Dallas Cowboys.

A big-time professional football play made by DeAndre Hopkins off a pass by Deshaun Watson led to an overtime field goal by Ka’imi Fairbairn to send the Houston Texans over the Dallas Cowboys, 19-16 on Sunday Night Football.

This wasn’t the most finely played game by either offense, but with the game on the line Hopkins showed why he should be and is in the talk of the best wide receivers in all of the NFL. Hopkins’ late overtime catch wasn’t just the catch he made, it was the path he took to get the yards after the catch, breaking tackles with his strength and athleticism for the 49-yard reception. Hopkins finished with nine receptions and 151 yards and he also broke up a Hail Mary in one play he played on defense.

Watson finished 33-of-44 for 375 yards with one touchdown and one interception. He also rushed for 40 yards on 10 caries.

In a quick recall of this game, it was a fun, exciting and nerve-wracking game to watch for all football fans as both Watson and Prescott stood strong against some very tough and physical defensive play.

The Cowboys kicked two field goals from Brett Maher in the first quarter from 43 yards and 27 yards for a 6-0 score. The Texans followed with a touchdown off a shovel pass from Watson to Keke Coutee for a 1-yard score. Later in the second quarter, a 20-yard field goal by Fairbairn made it a halftime score of 10-6 in favor of Houston.

In the third quarter, following a fumble by Hopkins, the Cowboys took advantage of great field position — from the Houston 16-yard line — and went on a 5-play drive, resulting in a 3-yard touchdown catch from Prescott to Allen Hurns, giving the Cowboys a 13-10 lead.

Prescott finished the game 18-of-29 for 208 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions. Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott totaled 54 yards on 20 carries with no touchdowns.

The Texans answered with a field goal from Fairbairn, tying the score at 13-13 with the score staying that after three quarters.

Houston took the lead with a 19-yard field goal from Fairbairn with 8:31 left in the fourth quarter for a 16-13 lead. The Cowboys tied the score at 16-16 with a 48-yard field goal from Maher.

The Texans won the game with the 36-yard field goal in overtime, giving the Texans a second straight overtime win.

Defensively for the Texans, J.J. Watt added another sack to his totals as he and the rest of the Texans defense were all over Prescott during the game, just as the Cowboys defense put a lot of hits and pressure on Watson as well.

This win not only gives the Texans the Governor’s Cup, but it also puts the Texans just one game out of first place in the AFC South as the Indianapolis Colts, Jacksonville Jaguars and Tennessee Titans all lost in Week 5.
