Momentum is at a season best for the Houston Texans entering Week 5 as they have a solid chance to earn a second straight victory.

Both the Houston Texans and the Dallas Cowboys have not played their best football thus far this season. It could be said both teams have already played their worst football of 2018 and the rest will be gradual improvement.

In terms for the Texans and their upcoming appearance on Sunday Night Football they have the opportunity to showcase just how special of a team they can be and that even with a 1-3 record they have some very talented players on their side of the field each and every week.

There is also added importance of not wanting to have their fourth loss in a span of the first five weeks of the season. The Texans not only are the early favorites in Las Vegas, but there are the Texas bragging rights on the line, with Houston losing their past three games when facing the Cowboys in the regular season.

If the offense improves the pass blocking and the defense can continue to pressure the opposing quarterback — this weekend that will be Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott — there is a real chance the Texans can defend their home stadium in front of a national audience, winning their second straight game.

Here are Wednesday’s headlines.

Dale Robertson of the Houston Chronicle took an early look at the Cowboys at Texans matchup, writing about various aspects of the upcoming game. The article stated:

"“The Texans’ run defense, which looked great against a terrible Colts running game, must further tighten the screws against the Cowboys with Ezekiel Elliott leading the NFL in rushing.”"

This is so true for the home team Texans. Houston must stop Elliott on a consistent basis and not let him make the big plays as he did last Sunday in a win over the Detroit Lions. Elliott is a threat rushing and catching the football, and is the best offensive weapon the Cowboys have as they workout their struggles. Every defensive player will have to be at their best to make sure Elliott doesn’t beat them this Sunday night.

• T.A. Mock of House of Houston — a FanSided site — compared rookie Keke Coutee to former NFL player Wes Welker. Mock wrote of Coutee in his article:

"“He surpassed my wildest dreams of what he’d accomplish in his NFL debut. Coutee added so many dimensions to this offense and instantly made it more dynamic just with his presence.”"

It was exciting to see Coutee on the field for the first time in the NFL and even better that he produced so well in this debut. Coutee finished with 11 receptions for 109 yards and he was targeted 15 times in the game by quarterback Deshaun Watson. Coutee isn’t going to be a surprise anymore for NFL teams, but now it is up to his opponents to stop him or he’ll most likely do more of the same.

Sean Pendergast of the Houston Press gave his thoughts on the Texans win over the Colts from this past weekend, writing the following on the game:

"“Frank Reich to go for it on fourth down in his own territory in the waning moments of a tie game against the Texans, and after a day or two to think about it, my stance on it is this — it was STILL a cataclysmically horrible decision.”"

It is easy to agree with Pendergast on this opinion as I’m with him. Wanting to win or not, the Colts head coach made the wrong choice and it proved to be costly. Houston made a first down and then in range kicked the game-winning field goal. It wasn’t a pretty win at all for the Texans, but at least it was a win, and even better for the Texans, it was also a loss for the Colts.

Jadeveon Clowney got some league-wide accolades this week as he was the AFC Defensive Player of the Week for his four tackles, two sacks, and one touchdown for a fumble recovery game against Indianapolis.

Next. Texans early favorite vs. Cowboys on Sunday Night Football. dark

It is great to see Clowney play well following missing Week 3. If Clowney stays healthy it will be very exciting to see how much havoc he and Watt cause the rest of the season.
