Houston Texans cornerback Kayvon Webster is finally expected to make his debut with the defense on Sunday Night Football at NRG Stadium with the Texans hosting the Dallas Cowboys.

After more than a month of being signed as a free agent, the Houston Texans are expecting for veteran cornerback Kayvon Webster to be available for Week 5 against the Dallas Cowboys according to Texans head coach Bill O’Brien.

Webster had been working his way back into optimal shape after suffering an Achilles injury that forced him to miss the majority of last season with the Los Angeles Rams. Webster brings to the Texans a career stat sheet that includes 65 games where he’s totaled 121 tackles, 21 passes defensed and two interceptions.

In transcripts provided by HoustonTexans.com, O’Brien spoke about the health of Webster for the upcoming Week 5 game:

"“Kayvon should be ready to go this week. I’ll know better later in the week but we should have a chance to see what Kayvon can do this week.”"

The Texans have struggled with injuries at cornerback and it has been a position of weakness with very little depth. Cornerback Kevin Johnson was placed on IR after Week 1 due to suffering multiple concussions in a matter of weeks.

There are now rumblings that slot cornerback Aaron Colvin could miss some extended time after suffering a serious ankle injury versus the Indianapolis Colts in Week 4.

With Colvin possibly being out for an extended absence, the Texans could opt to place him on the IR, and bring additional help in the secondary. Safety Kareem Jackson could go back to playing as the slot cornerback and have rookie Justin Reid start at safety.

The Texans have several options on their 10-man practice squad to address the possible vacant roster spot. Andre Chachere and Mike Tyson are available to be promoted to the active roster if Colvin is placed on the IR.
