Houston Texans: Aaron Colvin could miss significant time
By Jair Lopez
Houston Texans starting slot cornerback Aaron Colvin could miss the majority of the season with a serious ankle injury suffered late in the game in Week 4.
Losing Aaron Colvin to an ankle injury could be a huge blow for the Houston Texans defense as they were able to land Colvin in free agency this offseason from the Jacksonville Jaguars.
The Texans inked Colvin to a four-year $34 million deal and he has been a solid addition to the defense and was easily one of best cornerbacks the team had on the roster. Colvin ranked seventh on the team with 17 total tackles before the injury on Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts.

The Texans are struggling with health at their cornerback position with Colvin possibly being the second starter at cornerback to be placed on the IR as Kevin Johnson was already placed on the IR this season
Sarah Barshop of ESPN.com reported the following on the injury:
"“Colvin was on crutches in the locker room after the game and told the Houston Chronicle that he didn’t “feel very good at all.”"
Colvin’s injury could cause the Texans to reshuffle their secondary and have Kareem Jackson be the slot cornerback again. Rookie Justin Reid has shown promise at safety, but the Texans are certainly already in a bad spot with constant changing at those respective positions. The lack of consistency and stability could be a long-term problem for the team’s secondary and success in the regular season.
The Texans will probably bring several players to work out, but they have three cornerbacks on the practice squad that are already familiar with the coaching staff and the organization. Those cornerbacks are Breon Borders, Andre Chachere and Mike Tyson on the 10-man practice squad.
Houston expects Kayvon Webster to return this week after going down with an Achilles injury last season. Webster had 38 tackles and an interception it will interesting to see what direction they decide to go with Colvin being out an extended amount of time.
There are only so many capable cornerbacks available, but there are no guarantees that the Texans can overcome another injury to their secondary.
