1. Remember how to win

The Houston Texans’ main key to winning football games is just that … remembering how to win a game. The Texans haven’t won since before Thanksgiving of last season. Like it or not, that can take a toll on a team, and they’ll find ways to lose games rather than find a way to win one.

In both games, the Texans have gotten off to slow starts against New England and Tennessee. When the Texans faced the Patriots in Week 1, they trailed by a 7-3 score and at halftime they trailed 21-6. Last Sunday against the Titans, the Texans trailed 14-0 after the first quarter and 14-7 at halftime.

In both games this season, Houston has had to play catchup and in a total of four first-half quarters they’ve not only scored 13 points total, but have just one touchdown in that same span of time.

The last time the Texans led at halftime was in the season finale against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 17 of last season. In that game, they led 13-7, but ended up being shut out in the second half.

It will be of utmost importance for the Texans to get off to a strong start, and they have the players to do so on both offense and defense. It is just a matter of everything meshing together, and that means the entire team of offense, defense, special teams and the coaching staff. If that doesn’t happen, the Texans could become 0-3 to start the season.
