The Houston Texans have placed a 2015 first round pick on the injured reserve after suffering another serious concussion in the season opener against the New England Patriots.

Houston Texans cornerback Kevin Johnson has been struggling with health as of late which has translated to his production on the field. After suffering two concussions in a matter of weeks (including one this past Sunday), there has to be a lot of concern moving forward of his ability play in the league again as he’s been placed on the injured reserve list.

Johnson hasn’t been able to rekindle with the success he had early on his career as he has suffered foot, knee, hand and head injuries since entering the NFL in 2015 as the 16th overall selection. It’s difficult to play at a high level in this league, especially at cornerback, with so many injuries.

The Texans also placed starting offensive tackle Seantrel Henderson on the IR due to a broken ankle that occurred in the first half of the season opener versus the New England Patriots. This injury is also sensitive one since he was finally coming back to health after struggling with Crohn’s disease early on his NFL career.

Offensive line and cornerback were both positions coming into the season that they couldn’t afford to have players go down with serious injuries. Both positions were not positions of strength coming into the regular season.
