The Houston Texans continue to add and subtract from their roster and practice squad following a very busy weekend.

In a tweet on Sunday night, Joe Webb’s agent reported his client is returning to the Houston Texans. After the Texans released quarterback Joe Webb over the weekend, it looks like the reserve QB is returning to the Houston Texans.

The tweet by DEC Management stated on Sunday night: “Congratulations to #TeamDEC client @JoeWebb_14 on resigning with @HoustonTexans.”  According to Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle, Webb provides more than just being a quarterback to the roster:

"“Webb had a strong preseason and impressed the coaching staff with his versatility and mobility. He doubles as a special teams contributor.”"

In my opinion, Webb should have never been cut in the first place when the initial 53-man roster was released on Saturday. Webb needs to stay on the roster of the Texans, and this move – or pending move once officially announced by the team – is a solid one and one the team should happy they went back and fixed.

Sean Pendergast of the Houston Press spoke about the 53-man roster of the Texans, including giving six thoughts about the decisions made by the Texans front office and coaching staff:

"“Tyler Ervin has apparently made the team as the return specialist, despite not breaking off a single noteworthy return in the preseason. It would appear, he will maintain a role as a backup running back, as well.”"

Many have thoughts and opinions on the roster decisions of the Texans, and keeping Ervin is one that has some fans of the Texans happy, while other fans are not thrilled to see Ervin on the roster. Ervin is still a work in progress with the Texans, and now I want to see how he contributes to the special teams as that’s where Ervin will need to be more valuable, rather than on what he can do as a running back for the team.

• In another article by Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle, he reported that the Texans are working out cornerback Breon Borders on Monday. Wilson wrote:

"“(Breon) was a third team all conference pick at Duke where he recorded 148 career tackles.”"

It is good that the Texans are still trying to make their roster or practice squad better, and looking at a player like Borders makes sense. Some of the reserve cornerbacks for the Texans include: Johnson Bademosi, Jermaine Kelly, Aaron Colvin, Kayvon Webster and A.J. Moore.

The reserves on the Texans cornerback depth chart aren’t exactly names that jump off the page, so maybe Borders provides a better skill set than one of the players currently on the roster. This workout is about trying to make the Texans roster better, so we’ll all see how that turns out as the season opener continues to near.

Salary cap space is always interesting to talk about, but the question remains: will the Texans eventually use the extra cap space in future seasons, or will they just sit on the money and see where that takes them?

None of that matters at the moment because Week 1 is a few days away, and it is time for the Texans to get everything in order to face the New England Patriots, as they are the defending AFC Champions and should be a very tough opponent for the Texans to start the 2018 season.
