Should Braxton Miller be worried about his future?

Braxton Miller hasn’t had a good start to his sophomore season with the Houston Texans. Could his future be

Last week I wrote about why I believe Houston Texans’ wide receiver Braxton Miller has done almost nothing this season.

Things continue to not look good for Miller’s future after he ended up being a healthy scratch for this past Sunday’s game against the Tennessee Titans.

Texans’ head coach Bill O’Brien had the following to say, according to State of the Texans.

"“Any time you have pretty much a full complement – we had some healthy scratches today, which is tough because we only had really, coming into the game, two guys that were injured,” Bill O’Brien explained after the game. “That was Kevin Johnson and Greg Mancz and three, Marcus Burley was a little banged up. So, we had to make some tough decisions, but that means you have a full complement of guys on your roster and you’re trying to use all those guys in the best way possible.”"

Getting Will Fuller back was ultimately the reason behind Miller not dressing in week four. But the emergence of wide receiver Bruce Ellington is another reason he’s not doing much this season.

If Ellington wasn’t on the Texans’ roster, Miller would have been on the field this past weekend.

While the Texans’ didn’t do much in free agency this past offseason, signing Ellington may have been their best move. He’s another weapon in a suddenly very dangerous offense.

What hurts Miller the most is that he can’t help the Texans on special teams like rookie Chris Thompson can, who was very impressive against the Titans.

As long as the Texans’ current crop of receivers stay healthy, I can’t imagine Miller being active at all going forward.

Now if Miller doesn’t play much this season, I wouldn’t expect the Texans to move on from him next offseason. He will get another chance to prove himself in 2018.  Houston used a third round pick on him and won’t be quick to dump him.
