The Houston Texans will have their work cut out for them against the Cincinnati Bengals.

The Houston Texans have a big game on Thursday night against the Cincinnati Bengals.

I’ve come up with three keys for the Texans to come away with a win.

Deshaun Watson must protect the football

Texans’ rookie quarterback Deshaun Watson has to protect football.  It doesn’t matter how poorly his offensive line plays, he can’t make mistakes by throwing interceptions in order to give his team the best chance to win.

Watson also needs to be careful when he takes off and runs with the ball. He must either slide or get out of bounds in order to avoid getting hit.

Get Lamar Miller going early

We already know that the Texans have a hard time throwing the football, given the fact that their offensive line can’t pass block. In order to counteract the Bengals’ pass rush, Houston running back Lamar Miller has to move the chains on the ground.

If Miller and the Texans can establish a running game, it will help Watson have more success through the air.

Get after Andy Dalton

The Bengals’ offense lost some good offensive lineman this past offseason. The Texans defense is a unit that can take advantage of that with pass rushers J.J. Watt and Jadeveon Clowney.

If the Texans’ defense is able to get after Bengals’ quarterback Andy Dalton, it will limit their ability to make big plays down the field with wide receiver A.J. Green.
