Houston Texans vs. Jacksonville Jaguars: 5 players to watch
In order to come away with a week one win, the Houston Texans need some guys to step up.
I’ve come up with a list of five players on the Houston Texans to watch during this week’s game.
Tom Savage
Savage looked good for the most part during the preseason, but wasn’t perfect. He’s gotten his wish now that he’s the Texans’ starting quarterback, but facing off against a good Jaguar’s defense will be a big test for him with rookie DeShaun Watson waiting his chance.
Chris Clark
Clark will be starting at left tackle With Daune Brown still waiting for the Texans to give him more money.
Clark will have quite a test against Jags’ defensive end Calais Campbell, who is a monster of a man. If he struggles, I don’t know who can replace him.
Bruce Ellington
Ellington looked very explosive and dangerous in the preseason. With a lot of attention on DeAndre Hopkins, things could open for Ellington to make some big plays on Sunday.
It will be interesting to see who the Jags have covering Ellington. My guess is that it will be Jalen Ramsey.
Kevin Johnson
With A.J. Bouye now with the Jaguars, Johnson needs to prove that he can stay healthy and make the big plays that Bouye did last year.
Jacksonville’s receivers are dangerous and will test Johnson deep at times.
Corey Moore
With Quintin Demps no longer in Houston, Corey Moore will get the start and the Texans.
Houston will of course hope that Moore can get the job done after searching all offseason for someone to replace Demps.
If Moore struggles, Marcus Gilchrist may get a chance.
