The Houston Texans made a series of moves on Sunday as they confirmed some practice squad signings.
The Houston Texans have announced that they’ve waived veteran running back Akeem Hunt and claimed wide receiver Andy Jones on Sunday off of waivers.
Hunt signed as an free agent with the Texans in 2015 out of Purdue University after spending time on the practice squads of the New York Giants and Baltimore Ravens.
Hunt has rushed for 205 yards while also accumulating 68 yards receiving during his career so far.
When it comes to Jones, he was waived by the Dallas Cowboys on Saturday. And with all of the injuries the Texans’ receivers are dealing with, Houston needed to add some depth.

The Texans also announced on Sunday that they’ve signed nine players to their practice squad.
The players that Houston added are tight end Evan Baylis, cornerback Bryce Jones, wide receiver RIley McCarron, running back Dare Ogunbowale, outside linebacker Gimel President, offensive lineman David Quessenberry, defensive end Daniel Ross, offensive lineman Chad Slade, and wide receiver Chris Thompson.
The Texans could add another player since NFL teams are allowed up to 10 practice squad players.
It’s nice to see that the Texans to able to add Quessenberry after he cleared waivers as a result of him being released on Saturday.
I’m also glad that Houston was able to keep Ogunbowale. He’s a running back that could possibly help them down the road as long as he develops and adapts to the NFL game.
