Bill O”Brien continues to not get the credit he deserves.
Even though Houston Texans’ head coach Bill O’Brien had helped his team win the AFC South multiple times without a franchise quarterback, he still can’t get the respect he deserves.
Last year Elliot Harrison of NFL.com ranked O’Brien 16th among NFL head coaches.
With Harrison now releasing his 2017 head coaching power rankings, O’Brien comes in at No. 18.
"The Texans are still unsettled at quarterback, yet O’Brien keeps getting them to 9-7. That’s the sign of a coach who knows what he’s doing. So why not place him higher? Given that his background is on offense, it seems that developing a quarterback should be within his reach, but no less than Brian Hoyer, Ryan Mallett and Brock Osweiler have flamed out in Houston. Still, making the postseason in 2016 without J.J. Watt is a significant achievement."
Harrison has the likes of Adam Gase, Chuck Pagano, and John Fox all ahead of O’Brien.
Gase has only been with the Miami Dolphins for one year. Yes he led them to the playoffs. But let’s see how he looks in his sophomore season.

The Bears are a mess and I’m not sure you can blame Fox. But I do believe he’s a little overrated. Let’s wait until he digs Chicago out of the dumps before we rank him higher than O’Brien.
When it comes to Pagano, he did a good job with the Colts early on, but has struggled the last couple of years.
While you could argue that O’Brien hasn’t done enough with all the talent he has, another head coach may not have been able to win nine games without a legit quarterback.
