The Texans still have one of the worst quarterback situations in the NFL until proven otherwise.

Where would you rank the Houston Texans’ quarterback situation heading into the upcoming season?

Randy Gurzi of FanSided’s NFL Spin Zone has posted his NFL quarterback power rankings now that OTA’s are over.

Gurzi has Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson listed at No. 30, since he’s projecting him to start over Tom Savage.

Here’s what Gurzi wrote about Watson:

"There’s noise that Tom Savage will start for the Houston Texans. That would make no sense. The team gave up a lot to move up to pick No. 12 to secure Deshaun Watson services and he needs to be under center right away. Like any rookie, there will be some ups and downs, but his ceiling is much higher than Savage. He also is a gamer that will turn it up the brighter the lights around him are."

I disagree with Gurzi that starting Savage over Watson doesn’t make sense.

Yes the Texans gave up a lot for Watson, but that doesn’t mean they should rush him along. To me that means they should take their time and make sure he develops into a franchise quarterback.

The fact of the matter is that whether Watson or Savage is the Texans’ week one starter, they still don’t have a great situation at quarterback since they don’t have a proven quarterback yet.
