Brock Osweiler was caught off guard when the Houston Texans traded him.
The NFL world was shocked earlier this offseason when the Houston Texans traded quarterback Brock Osweiler to the Cleveland browns.
We’ve heard from the Texans’ front office after dumping Osweiler.
But we’ve actually never heard from Osweiler himself. Until today.
Osweiler told the Cleveland media on Wednesday that he didn’t know he was going to be traded.

I’m sure Osweiler never thought he would be playing for any other team in 2017 due to the fact that the Texans were on the hook for $16 million this coming season because of the way his contract was structured.
This almost made it impossible to trade Osweiler and it also didn’t make sense for Houston to release him because it would have created $16 million in dead money.
This is of course why the Texans had to give up a second round pick just to trade Osweiler.

Despite a really bad season with the Texans in 2016, Osweiler believes he should be the Browns’ starter this coming season.

Brock Osweiler asked why he thinks he's good enough to start:
— Andrew Siciliano (@AndrewSiciliano) May 24, 2017
"I think the proof is in the film for the past two years."
Osweiler will definitely have a chance to start for the Browns this season given the fact that there may not be any other quarterbacks on Cleveland’s roster that are good enough to beat him out.
Second-year quarterabck Cody Kessler was solid as a rookie and the Browns just drafted Deshone Kizer out of Notre Dame.
If Osweiler can’t beat out Kessler and Kizer, he shouldn’t ever be allowed to start in the NFL again.
