The odds are in favor of Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson being named the offensive rookie of the year.

The bookmakers at Bovada have released their odds on who will win the NFL’s offensive rookie of the year award for 2017.

Houston Texans rookie quarterback Deshaun Watson comes in at 6-to-1 while only running backs Christian McCaffrey of the Carolina Panthers and Leonard Fournette of the Jacksonville Jaguars have better odds right now.

The second quarterback on the list is Mitchell Trubisky of the Chicago Bears who’s odds are 14-to-1.

A total of 16 players made the list.  The worst odds go to New York Giants tight end Evan Engram and Buffalo Bills wide receiver Zay Jones who are at 25-to-1.

Some other notable players are Cincinnati Bengals running back Joe Mixon 12-to-1, Minnesota Vikings running back Dalvin Cook 8-to-1 and Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshone Kizer 12-to-1.

Vegas clearly believes that Watson will be the Texans’ starter this coming season and will play well if they’re this confident in him.

I know head coach Bill O’Brien’s offense isn’t easy to learn, but I imagine the Texans will bring Watson along slowly and if they believe he can start right away they will dumb it down a little.

Watson also has more than enough weapons at his disposal to play well during his first season.
