Houston Texans allowing Brian Gaine to interview for Buffalo Bills general manager position.

The Buffalo Bills surprised the NFL after this past weekend’s NFL draft when they fired general manager Doug Whaley.

Now of course the Bills need a new GM.

The Texans have given personnel director Brian Gaine permission to interview for the Bills’ vacant general manager position, according to John McClain of the Houston Chronicle.

Gaine came to the Texans in 2014 after spending time with the Miami Dolphins prior to them hiring Dennis Hickey.

Gaine is very respected around the NFL as he’s done a great job when it comes to evaluating talent and helping out with contracts and free agency decisions.

Those won’t be the first general manager position that Gaine has interviewed for. He interviewed for the Chicago Bears general manager opening before they hired Ryan Pace.

When looking at the Bills’ situation I’m not sure why Gaine would want to be their general manager.  It doesn’t look good when a team fires a GM after the draft since NFL teams never operate that way.

I’m not sure if leaving a good situation in Houston for one that looks to be dysfunctional in Buffalo would be smart for Gaine.
