Texans won’t reach for quarterback in first round, could take a cornerback or offensive tackle, per report
The Houston Texans could surprise us with their first round pick.
With the 2017 NFL draft only hours away, we will soon find out what the Texans will do with the 25th overall pick.
Houston can go in many different directions but their biggest need right now is no doubt at quarterback right now.
Matt Miller of Bleacher Report wrote on Tuesday that the Texans will not reach for a quarterback and could end up taking an offensive tackle or a cornerback in the first round.
"Quarterback is a need, but the team won’t reach to draft one. A source in the front office said cornerback, offensive tackle and quarterback are where they expect to go in Round 1. Gareon Conley and Marlon Humphrey would be ideal fits in this defense."
I believe the odds are that the Texans will use their first round pick on a right tackle.
I’m kind of surprised Houston would go with a cornerback so early given the fact that this year’s class is so deep at corner and they could get great value on day two or three.

But then again NFL teams usually go with the best player that’s available on their board and that could be a cornerback when it comes to when they’re picking in the first round.
