DaShone Kizer is one of the top-rated quarterbacks in this year’s draft, but he’s also a wild card like everyone else at his position.
I mentioned earlier today that the Houston Texans were attending Notre Dame’s pro day, which would give them a good look at quarterback DeShone Kizer.
It sounds like Kizer looked good, considering the circumstances.
Here’s some reaction from Kizer’s performance.
No. 1 takeaway from talking w/ NFL scout today about Kizer/ND--the talent level around him fell off a cliff, he shouldn't be knocked for it

Just had a scout text me that Kizer was throwing to "scrubs" today and to throw out any accuracy complaints.

"He's got a big time arm... We knew that about him. But it was good to see the footwork improvement." - McShay on DeShone Kizer's pro day pic.twitter.com/HnKrjoG1QC

Notre Dame HC Brian Kelly on DeShone Kizer: "I loved his presence today. He took control of the drills."

Talked to Todd McShay. Said Kizer certainly looked better today than he did at the Combine. Still believes late 1st or early 2nd is likely.

DeShone Kizer is throwing the ball well at Notre Dame pro day. He's working mostly under center to show his abilities in a pro-style system

Here’s some video of Kizer throwing the football.
With Kizer projected to go anywhere between high in the first round to possibly in the second round, I wonder if the Texans would take him over Patrick Mahomes, if both are on the board when they pick at 25.

Mahomes has the best arm in the draft, but Kizer’s footwork is superior to Mahomes’.
The Texans as well as every other NFL team have the difficult task is trying to figure out which quarterback prospect has the best chance of succeeding at the NFL level. It depends on how much teams believe they can help each quarterback improve at the next level.
One thing is for, there’s no way Kizer will slip to the second half of the second round. If he drops out of the first round, he likely won’t get very far.
