DeAndre Hopkins takes shot at Jalen Ramsey
DeAndre Hopkins didn’t hesitate in calling out Jalen Ramsey after the Jaguars signed his former teammate A.J. Bouye.
Well things didn’t take long to escalate now that former Houston Texans cornerback A.J. Bouye has signed a huge contract with their division rival, the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Texans wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins decided to take a shot at Jaguars cornerback Jalen Ramsey while talking about Bouye leaving for Jacksonville.
“He better be the dude guarding me on 3rd down instead of Jalen because he couldn’t get the job done,” said Hopkins.
Ouch. Those are fighting words.
Ramsey was also called out by former NFL wide receiver Steve Smith this past season. He’s learning the hard way that the NFL is not a kind league.
In Ramsey’s defense, he ended the 2016 season with a grade of 82.5, according to Pro Football focus.
I’m not sure how Hopkins fared against Ramsey one-on-one last season, but he did have five catches for 48 yards in his first game against the Jaguars last year. And eight receptions for 87 yards in their second match up. Hopkins didn’t score a touchdown against the Jaguars last season.

We also have to remember that Hopkins’ numbers dipped last season due to poor quarterback play.
With all the money the Jags (five years, $67.5 million) are paying Bouye, there’s no doubt in my mind that he’ll be matching up against Hopkins one-on-one. It’s time for him to live up to his new contract as he gets ready to face off against the Texans twice a year now.
