Signs continue to point to Tom Savage being the favorite to start in 2017.

Peter King of TheMMQB.com wrote in this week’s Monday Morning Quarterback that he believes Tom Savage will be the Houston Texans starting quarterback heading into the 2017 season.

"The Texans have a great defense and are likely to play Tom Savage at quarterback in Week 1.…And the buzz around the team is that Savage will have every opportunity to win the job."

Many NFL as well as Texans’ reporters have been saying that Savage will get a fair chance to win the job and that they believe he will in fact be the starter heading into next season.  So this isn’t a surprise.  It’s just confirms what’s been reported since the 2016 season ended.

I imagine that Texans head coach Bill O’Brien wants Savage to win the job.  He did draft him in the fourth round of the 2014 NFL Draft.

It also looks like O’Brien isn’t very happy that the Texans signed Brock Osweiler to such a large contract last year and has failed to live up to it.

While no one really knows how good Savage will be if he’s allowed to start an entire season, it can’t be much worse than Osweiler who looked dysfunctional last year.

The biggest question when it comes to Savage is whether he can stay healthy.

When given a chance to start last year, Savage only started two games after going down with a concussion during his second game.

Let me know what you think in the comments section below.  Will Tom Savage be the Texans’ week one starter?
