Houston Texans Morning Huddle–Texans Exposed?
Following the dreadful showing on Thursday, here are your Houston Texans morning headlines:
Texans Exposed Against Quality Competition by Chris Wesseling, NFL.com
"Entering Thursday night’s 27-0 debacle versus the Pats, the Texans had reason to believe they could finally hang with an AFC perennial superpower reduced to its third-string rookie quarterback. The defense featured a swarming front seven, a stingy cornerback trio and the league’s best third-down rate. The offense was chock-full of playmakers after adding three-down tailback Lamar Miller and speedy rookie sensation Will Fuller to complement Pro Bowl wideout DeAndre Hopkins. If there was a question still to be answered, it was whether $72 million quarterback Brock Osweiler would prove to be a franchise savior or the emperor with no clothes."
Let’s hold off with the assumptions three weeks into the season. I didn’t get all gung ho after the first two wins, so I’m not going to lose my mind after one loss. They may not be championship caliber right now, but if the new faces gel and they could be in January.

Observations from Thursday by John Harris, Houstontexans.com
"18. Drew Dougherty said to me after the game in our postgame interview that there was really no pivotal moment in the game to swing any momentum back to the Texans. I couldn’t have agreed more. After the first kickoff return fumble, the game went one way and never swung back. There’s not much more to say about this one. Fumbles. Drops. Bad tackling. Missed opportunities. It was a frustrating night, but the nice thing about September is that there’s always more football to be played. See ya next Sunday, everyone."
I agree. This is a young team and they will have bad games. I’m sure they will have another stinker game at some point this season. How they bounce back is key, and it starts against the Titans as they kick off divisional play the Sunday after this one.
