Bill O’Brien not alarmed by Brock Osweiler’s debut performance – by Aaron Wilson
"Running a scaled-back playbook and operating behind an injury-depleted offensive line, Texans quarterback Brock Osweiler didn’t have the strong debut that the Texans envisioned. In his first game with the Texans since being signed to a four-year, $72 million contract that included $37 million guaranteed, Osweiler attempted just seven passes with four completions for 27 yards and a 65.8 passer rating with no touchdowns or interceptions."

33 observations from the Texans win over SF – by John Harris, HoustonTexans.com
"A win is a win and as Coach O’Brien will emphasize from here until eternity, it’s the only thing that matters, even in pre-season games. The Texans left Levi’s Stadium with a 24-13 victory over the San Francisco 49ers, feeling good about the win, knowing it wasn’t perfect. There’s plenty to work on heading into week number two of the pre-season, but plenty to feel good about as well. Here are my observations from game one of the pre-season.1. The defense’s first two drives – three and out and a scoop and score for a touchdown. A great way to start. In fact, the third drive was nearly a three and out as well. We’ll get to this one in a little bit."
Clowney, Martin will return to practice – by Deepi Sidhu, HoustonTexans.com
"“I think on the injury front we’re pretty much status quo right now,” head coach Bill O’Brien said in his Monday press conference. “I would expect that (Jadeveon) Clowney and Nick Martin would be back at practice sometime this week.”Clowney had been dealing with knee soreness. Martin, the rookie center, had a back issue. The two, who did not practice last week, also did not travel for the preseason opener against the 49ers."
Don’t expect flashy numbers from Brock Osweiler in 2016 – by Sarah Barshop, ESPN

"There is a lot of pressure for quarterback Brock Osweiler’s numbers to reflect the four-year, $72 million contract he signed with the Texans in March, especially given the talent they signed this offseason to help him. I don’t think Osweiler’s numbers will blow you away at the end of the season, but I think he will get close to the ESPN projections."
