Houston Texans camp battles: Tight end
By Randy Gurzi
Hopeful No. 1 Anthony Denham
Anthony Denham has been with the Texans since 2014 when they signed him as an undrafted free agent out of Utah.
Vitals:
Height: 6-foot-4
Weight: 236 Pounds
Year: 3rd Season
Summary:
Denham has yet to record any game time as he has spent nearly his whole career on the team’s practice squad. He was called up briefly in 2014 near the end of the year, but never was active on game day.
The Verdict; Off the 53-man roster
Sadly, there isn’t a lot of hope for Denham here who had just 35 catches in two seasons at Utah. He most likely misses out on the 53-man roster and has just one last season of practice squad eligibility left, but that won’t even be a guarantee.
Hopeful No. 2 Eric Tomlinson
Eric Tomlinson was used primarily as a blocker while playing for the University of Texas El Paso and should he make a mark in the NFL it would be for the same thing.
Vitals:
Height: 6-foot-6
Weight: 263 Pounds
Year: 3rd Season
Originally signed by the Philadelphia Eagles as an undrafted free agent last season, Tomlinson made his way to Houston by season’s end. The second year players is a strong tight end that won’t beat anyone with speed and caught just 19 passes his final season at UTEP.

He has great size for the position and due to the team’s affinity for blocking tight ends he probably has the inside track to the practice squad over Denham.
