Here are your daily Houston Texans stories to kick off your Monday:

What we Learned from OTA’s by Patrick Starr, State of the Texans

"Texans defense will be an interesting case study and here is why: the defense is returning 13 of their top 14 snap takers in 2015, minus Jared Crick. The defense has been notorious for starting slowly the past two seasons but the pieces are in place, with expectations for Jadeveon Clowney, Benardrick McKinney and Kevin Johnson to take significant jumps on the field. There is plenty to pay attention to when training camp arrives, with practically all of the defensive personnel back in 2016."

Well, I’m not too concerned about the defense. They’ll be fine. All eyes are going to be on the offense.

Osweiler “exactly what we wanted” according to O’Brien by The Sports Xchange

"“So far, he’s been exactly what we’ve expected,” coach Bill O’Brien told John McClain of the Houston Chronicle. “He works extremely hard. He’s a very bright guy. He’s a good communicator with his teammates. He’s very hard on himself.“He’s a fun guy to be around, a fun guy to coach — very competitive on the field. He’s been exactly what we expected to this point. We all know the nature of the deal. We all have to go out and coach well and play well when the season starts. That’s the key. That’s what we’re building toward.”"

I take all comments like this with a grain of salt. Last year Jason Garrett said the Dallas running game would be fine without DeMarco Murray with Joseph Randle taking over. Randle didn’t finish the season and the Cowboys went 4-12. O’Brien is just toeing the company line. Let’s reserve judgement here.

Vrabel Sticking Around by Aaron Wilson, Houston Chronicle

"“Mike’s an intense dude, that’s for sure,” Herman said. “We had only been coaching together for not even a month and we’re in a mat drill, a tug of war at 6 a.m., and Mike was talking smack. Long story short, I find myself nose to nose with Mike Vrabel trying to pick a fight with him.“Needless to say, it was not a very wise decision on my part. He definitely spared me with his mercy and allowed people to hold us back before he got the better of me. He could have killed me and he didn’t. I’m forever grateful.”"

Sounds like we’ve got a real keeper here. Hope he sticks around in Houston for a long time.
