Free agent safety, Antonio Allen

One guy who will try and take the starting job from Demps will be former New York Jets safety Antonio Allen, who signed with the Texans this offseason.

While Allen does have 18 starts to his credit, he hasn’t been spectacular thus far in his career. Still, he’s had a solid career given that he was a seventh-round pick by the Jets back in 2012, so he shouldn’t be counted out completely.

2016 season prediction: 35 tackles, 1 interception

Fighting for more time, Eddie Pleasant

Former Oregon Duck safety Eddie Pleasant finally made some noise in a reserve role for Houston last season when he recorded 36 tackles, a half sack and two interceptions.

The hard hitting Pleasant looks to expand upon that success in 2016 and his primary competition for time will be the recently signed Antonio Allen. They may both end up on the roster but it’s most likely that only one will get extensive playing time in sub packages.

Smart money may be on Allen since Pleasant has been here four seasons but the Texans still were looking for more depth.

2016 season prediction: 15 tackles
