Relief pass rusher, John Simon

With Clowney working to recover from his knee surgery, the Texans turned to former Baltimore Ravens fourth round pick John Simon to man the outside linebacker spot opposite Mercilus.

Vitals
Height: 6-foot-1
Weight: 252 Pounds
Age: 25
Career tackles: 69
Career sacks: 6.5

Simon started eight games for the Texans last season and played surprisingly well especially when considering his lack of experience heading into the season.

Waived after just one season in Baltimore, Simon headed to Houston and played sparingly in 2014. Despite recording just seven tackles and 1.5 sacks, the coaching staff saw enough to give Simon more time in 2015.

By season’s end we all saw why as he recorded 53 tackles and five sacks while providing a great fill-in-starter and rotational rusher. Look for Simon to continue to show why the team has so much faith in him.

2016 season prediction: 55 tackles, 6 sacks, 1 interception
