The sophomore: Jaelen Strong

The Texans moved up in the third round of the 2015 NFL Draft to grab former Arizona State receiver Jaelen Strong. He impressed during his brief time on the field, which included two touchdowns in his first game on the active roster, but for the most part wasn’t much help to the team.

Vitals
Height: 6-foot-2
Weight: 217 pounds
Age: 22
Career receptions: 14
Career yards: 161
Career TDs: 3

Strong’s first career reception was a Hail Mary touchdown just before half time on a nationally televised Thursday Night game, and it seemed like he might be ready to break out as a star. Unfortunately he was rather quiet the rest of the season and seemed to have never gotten the trust of his coaching staff.

That trust may be even harder to earn following an offseason arrest for marijuana possession coupled with the addition of a couple of high profile rookies at the position.

Still, at one point Strong looked to have a legitimate shot at being a first round receiver, so there’s hope there that he can eventually come through for the team. If he is going to, he needs to fast because coach O’Brien has showed little patience with players who don’t develop, no matter what their draft status is.

Season prediction: 25 receptions, 260 yards, 3 TDs
