Houston Texans defensive end J.J. Watt reportedly played through several muscle tears during the 2015 season

As if everyone wasn’t already aware, Houston Texans defensive end J.J. Watt is one tough man. Just how tough, no one fully knew until after realizing what all he went through during the 2015 season.

Watt has never missed a game due to injury, and he made sure that streak stayed in tact during this past year, despite several injuries that would have sidelined most people. In December he broke his hand and played through it.

The club on his hand may have slowed him just a bit, but he was still one of the more dominant players in the game.

After battling through that pain, his season ended slightly early as he left the team’s playoff game in the third quarter with what was called a groin injury. ESPN’s Tania Ganguli recently reported just how severe that injury really was.

"According to a source, Watt had partially torn left and right abdominals and a partially torn right adductor longus. He also had a fully torn left adductor longus and a fully torn left adductor pectineus, which are two of the three muscles that connect the pelvic bone to the left thigh bone."

After describing all the tears Watt suffered, Ganguli dropped the nugget that some of them happened early in the season.

Despite battling injuries all season, Watt still finished with his third defensive player of the year award in the last four seasons. With the whole offseason to get healthy and some help now on offense, look for Watt to do all he can in 2016 to help the Texans take that next step.
