#2.
With the 21st selection the Texans take one of the top tight ends in Stanford’s Austin Hooper. The 2016 tight end class is fairly weak, but Hooper has a lot of upside as he went over 400 yards in each of his two seasons in Northern California.

Hooper is a smooth route runner who possesses soft hands and long arms. He is very raw still with just his two years playing experience, but in time he could develop into a real threat at the position.

For Houston, he may offer an upgrade at the second tight end spot as 2014 third-round pick C.J. Fiedorowicz has yet to turn into the player they thought they were drafting. Ryan Griffin looks set to be the starter this coming season, and while he isn’t the greatest starter in the league, he is at least adequate.

The Texans like to play two tight ends often and putting Hooper and Griffin together at least offers some threat to catch the ball that opponents have to respect.
. TE. Stanford Cardinals. AUSTIN HOOPER
