Houston Texans: Seven-round mock draft
By Randy Gurzi

#1.
There was a point where Ohio State running back Ezekiel Elliott looked to be a top ten pick in the draft, but thanks to the Philadelphia Eagles overpaying and miss-using DeMarco Murray in 2015, teams may be back under the impression that running backs are too easy to replace to invest too much in.

After a couple years of no running backs going in the opening round, both Todd Gurley (Los Angeles Rams) and Melvin Gordon (San Diego Chargers) did so in 2015. Gurley was worth the pick for sure, but the return on investment for Gordon is still to be determined.

Those situations help Houston nab one of the better backs to come out of college in recent memory as Elliott topped 1,800 yards in each of the past two seasons for the Buckeyes. The Texans will be able to appease a fan base that may be angry should the team decide to move on from the great, but oft-injured, Arian Foster.

Elliot will help Houston control the clock and ease the burden on whoever lines up under center in 2016 (sorry fans, it will probably be Brian Hoyer unless Houston drops a ton of picks to move up…which may be a good idea). The Texans won a lot of games with solid defense and a ground game led by Foster, Elliot could bring similar success to the team.
. RB. Ohio State Buckeyes. EZEKIEL ELLIOTT
