6. Brandon Boykin, CB Pittsburgh Steelers
Again, talent on the roster is no reason to ignore players during free agency or the draft. The Texans have Kevin Johnson, Kareem Jackson and Johnathan Joseph at the corner position. While it obviously isn’t a need, the team should look at upcoming free agent, Brandon Boykin.
The former Georgia Bulldog was originally a member of the Philadelphia Eagles and in his second season in the NFL, Boykin deflected 16 passes and had six interceptions. Oddly, he has been used only sparingly since then by both the Eagles and then the Steelers as well after he was traded away.
Boykin stands 5-foot-10 and 182 pounds and is an ideal fit as a nickel back who follows the slot receivers around. Against pass happy divisional rivals like the Indianapolis Colts and Jacksonville Jaguars, it’s imperative to have as many good corners as possible.
While he does take gambles, Boykin will create turnovers. With eight interceptions and five forced fumbles in his career, the 25-year old corner has shown plenty of playmaking ability and still has many years left in the league.
