Marcedes Lewis, Jacksonville Jaguars, 31 years old
After the Jacksonville Jaguars signed Julius Thomas, it seemed like Marcedes Lewis would soon be on the way out. Instead, the Texan’s AFC South rival kept both players on the roster and Lewis had the least productive season of his ten-year career.
Despite starting all 16 games for the Jaguars the former first round selection recorded only 16 receptions for 226 yards and no scores.
He still managed to be with the first team every game as the Jags used a two tight end set, but was primarily only used as a blocker. His skill in that area would surely appeal to Texans head coach Bill O’Brien, but he also has been a huge factor in passing attacks as well in the past.
In 2010 Lewis had 58 receptions for 700 yards and 10 touchdown grabs and in 2012 he recorded 52 catches for 540 and four scores. While he has surely slowed down some, the 6’6″ and 275 pound Lewis could be a solid veteran that would upgrade the unit Houston currently features.
