NFL power rankings: Texans get no love following victory
By Randy Gurzi
The Houston Texans have spent much of the 2015 season on the bottom tier of various media power rankings. Following the convincing victory this past Sunday against the Tennessee Titans will they see themselves climb up any at all? Let’s look around the league at where the 3-5 Texans rank at the midway point.
Pro Football Talk – 25th
"If they were the Colts, they’d hang a “Got Ken Whisenhunt Fired” banner."
NFL.com – 30th
"What’s with winning AFC quarterbacks sporting plaid postgame? Ryan Tannehill went with the “Eight Is Enough” button-down last week … and Brian Hoyer apparently raided his Dolphins counterpart’s closet before his postgame presser on Sunday. Winning: Making NFL quarterbacks stylish since 1920.More importantly, the Texans’ defense played ball, a week after getting pummeled in Miami. Coordinator Romeo Crennel has taken heat for the lack of fire in his unit. Well, Houston went nuts on Sunday, sacking Zach Mettenberger seven times, allowing one third-down conversion (in 12 tries) and holding the Titans to six points."
Yahoo! – 25th
"Alfred Blue averaged 2.8 yards per carry on Sunday and Chris Polk averaged 2.2. The Titans are actually pretty good on defense, but it’s still going to be quite a struggle for Houston without Arian Foster."
Washington Post – 21st
"J.J. Watt’s exploits have not received quite as much attention this year. But he is having another excellent season. He is tied for the league lead with 8.5 sacks and he has 40 tackles, five passes defensed and a forced fumble."
