Texans morning huddle: Trading J.J.?

facebooktwitterreddit

Good morning Texans fans, I hope this weekend has started out well for you all. We are just one day away from Houston facing off with division rival (and the original Houston franchise) the Tennessee Titans.

Tennessee will be without their starting quarterback so the hope is we can all watch our team climb to a 3-5 record and keep within striking distance of the division leaders Indianapolis.

To help make sure we can all keep up with the important news, the morning huddle has all we need below;

Trades we’d like to see: Texans send J.J. Watt to Packers – Greg Garber, ESPN

"Houston Texans defensive end J.J. Watt to Green Bay Packers for No. 1 draft choices in 2016, 2017 and a provisional 2018 pickIf J.J. Watt chopped down a tree in the forest, would it make a sound?It sure would in Green Bay, where the Texans’ defensive end could put the Packers over the top for the foreseeable future. If that hard-working Verizon 4G network were a man, the commercial goes, it would be Watt, a world-class whacker of quarterbacks."

Zach Mettenberger to start at QB for Titans at Texans – by Drew Dougherty, HoustonTexans.com

"Mettenberger, who started both games against the Texans last season, is seeking his first win against Houston in three tries. He’s a quarterback with whom the Texans are very familiar.“Did a lot of work on Zach pre-draft,” head coach Bill O’Brien said. “He’s a big guy, has a strong arm, smart guy, very football smart. He was coached well at LSU by Cam Cameron in his last year so he had a pro background coming into the NFL.”"

Mallett’s downfall with Texans an inability to act like a pro – by Aaron Wilson, Houston Chronicle

"“Ryan clearly just didn’t get it,” said one Texan, speaking on condition of anonymity. “How can you miss the flight? That’s ridiculous and disrespectful to just not show up when everyone else is here ready to go.“That makes you question whether he cared at all about what we’re trying to do or what kind of problems he’s dealing with. He’s immature.”"

Injury Report: Banged-Up Texans Prep For Titans On Sunday – by Sam McPherson, CBS Houston

"To say the Houston Texans got beat up last weekend by the Miami Dolphins is an understatement. Houston was losing, 41-0, at halftime last week before playing catch-up in the second half of a 44-23 loss on the road. Now, the Texans are nursing several key injuries from that beatdown as they prepare to host the Tennessee Titans at home in Week 8 this Sunday.First and foremost, All-World defensive end J.J Watt missed practice on Thursday with a back ailment, suffered during that loss to the Dolphins. It would be surprising to see Watt miss the game on Sunday, of course, and he should be fine to play; yet it’s never a good thing to see your best player miss a key workout leading up to a game."
