Game: Tennessee Titans at Houston Texans

Prediction: This is an interesting game for the fates of both teams in the AFC south. The Titans are in last place at just a game and a half out despite being 1-5. It has not been because of Marcus Mariota though. He has been pretty good so far this season, but they just haven’t been able to win close games. They lost by two to the Colts, one to the Bills and three to the Falcons (though they did not have Mariota in that game). Their defense has really taken off under Dick LeBeau, who has them fifth in the league in yards allowed. They are top five against the pass, which does not bode well for Brian Hoyer and DeAndre Hopkins, who are quickly becoming an explosive duo.

Despite the struggles of the Texans defense, the Titans offense overall is not that good. Mariota can only do so much himself. But Kendall Wright is inconsistent, Bishop Sankey hasn’t really done much since the week one win in Tampa Bay, and they can’t really find another playmaker. Still, I just get the feeling that the Titans are due for a win after all these close losses.

Final Score: Titans 23, Texans 20, assuming Mariota plays. If Mettenberger plays, it becomes a real toss up.
