Texans morning huddle: Washington faces old team, extortion plot stopped

What a weird week this has been for the Houston Texans as they lost a franchise leader for the season and cut a quarterback so many hoped would work out. Still, the weeks move on in the NFL and it is time to get ready for the next game.

"A man has been charged with theft in connection with an extortion plot involving the Houston Texans. Chaz Davis attempted to get several thousand dollars from the Texans as well as sell his story to several Houston media outlets, including ABC-13 Eyewitness News.This past Monday, Chaz Davis, a man with a checkered criminal history, called the Eyewitness News assignment desk and told Jason Jobes that he had a story about a Houston Texans player."

"Washington played wide receiver in Nashville from 2009 to 2014, and in 2011 he cracked the 1,000 yard mark for the season, catching a career-high seven touchdowns that autumn. Six seasons as a Titan mean a lot, but Washington stressed that he’s more interested in being on the winning side in Week 8.“The more focus for me, being an older guy, is making sure that I am doing what I must do in order to give us a win, put us in a position in order to create the plays and do my assignment,” Washington said."

Texans’ J.J. Watt (back), Jadeveon Clowney (sickness) miss practice – Christopher Chavez, SI.com

"Texans head coach Bill O’Brien told reporters that Watt is “dealing with a minor injury,” while Clowney is “suffering from a 24-hour bug,” which is why both players were sidelined Wednesday.Watt said he was dealing with minor back pain, but fully intends on playing Sunday against the Tennessee Titans. Last season’s defensive player of the year has not missed a game for the Texans since joining the team in 2011."

Texans add safety Drummond to active roster, put Foster on IR – Fox Sports

"Drummond, an undrafted free agent out of Michigan State, had been on the practice squad after failing to make the 53-man roster in training camp. He played in three preseason games for Houston, recording eight tackles and an interception."
