Roster news: Texans bring back ‘Hard Knocks’ star Charles James
By Randy Gurzi
The Houston Texans cut defensive back Charles James during their final cuts and he then became a member of the Baltimore Ravens. The cut was upsetting to many who enjoyed James’ outgoing personality while on the show.
He came off as a high energy guy that loved the game and was willing to let his teammates know when they needed to step their game up.
He further endeared himself to fans when he ran a 73-yard touchdown after the team let him line up as a running back. The play was called back due to a penalty but it was still fun to watch.
In the end, James was a numbers casualty in Houston. However, the team now finds themselves thinning in the defensive backfield as they lost safety Lonnie Ballentine for the year after he tore his PCL and MCL on Sunday.
Starting corner Kareem Jackson is also dealing with an injury suffered Sunday. Jackson hurt his ankle and his status going forward is still up in the air.
It made sense that Houston has put in a claim for James, who was just let go by the Baltimore Ravens, due to the injuries suffered this weekend. The defender has been awarded to the Texans and will be welcomed back with open arms by the fan base that enjoyed his personality and gritty play.
