Breaking News: Texans release return man Chandler Worthy
By Randy Gurzi
The Houston Texans have continued to make the tough decisions needed to cut the roster down to 53 players by the NFL’s 4 p.m. EST deadline. Yesterday names like nose tackle Louis Nix III, running back Kenny Hilliard and receivers Uzoma Nwachukwu and Damaris Johnson were reportedly cut.
The team also moved on from one of their preseason stars in linebacker Kourtnei Brown and now they have said goodbye to another player who flashed potential in the preseason by releasing receiver/return man Chandler Worthy.
Undrafted out of Troy, Worthy showed off his speed on returns and seemed like he had a shot to make the roster as the primary punt and kickoff returner. The Texans may elect to use fellow rookie receiver Keith Mumphery in this role as he too showed some flashes in the return game during the exhibition games.
