Ryan Mallet’s Grade: D-.

After re-watching the game film, I believe Ryan Mallett’s passes traveled in the air 2.75 yards per pass attempt on average (his longest pass attempt was eight yards down field). How is an offense suppose to get first downs when the ball is never thrown past the first down marker? The Texans wide receivers aren’t yards after catch super stars. He needs to showcase his arm strength, read defenses, and be more aggressive in order win the starting gig. This performance shows how little faith Bill O’Brien and the OC have in Mallett because play calls were basic, short, didn’t challenge him, or play to Mallett’s few strengths.
