Houston Texans camp: who to watch on offense
By Randy Gurzi
Honorable mentions
While the players listed before are the key people I will be watching when the practices and preseason games get going, there will be some other people to keep an eye on when the Texans take the field.
Ben Jones moves over to center from left guard after the team cut veteran center Chris Myers. While Myers and the team have discussed a potential return at a lower rate, the need for such a move would be nullified if Jones comes in and excels at one of the most underrated positions on the field.
Chris Polk and Alfred Blue could both serve as second string running backs and give Arian Foster an occasional rest. Blue carried the ball a lot his rookie year, but had a very low average per rush. Polk was a stud in college but a shoulder condition scared teams off and he had been relegated to spot duty as a back up to LeSean McCoy in Philadelphia.
Polk may have a shot to win the kick returning duties, but also watch these two to see which one shows more promise as a ball carrier on offense.
