Houston Texans free agent spotlight: Stevie Brown
Welcome back to Free Agent Spotlight! This is a continuation of a new series detailing players that the Houston Texans acquired in free agency this offseason (aptly named “Free Agent Spotlight”). We’ve heard a lot about new wide receiver Cecil Shorts and Brian Hoyer, but there were a number of other good signings by the team. If you have any questions about these players or would like to suggest a player to spotlight, tweet/follow me @pparkinson13!

Stevie Brown. Does the name ring a bell? You might know him, you might not. In his 5 years in the NFL, Brown has only managed to record more than 40 tackles in one season, and that season, he would lead the NFL in interceptions.
But bookending that incredible year were two seasons of obscurity and back up numbers and two seasons of rehabbing from injury. While his name might of been fairly common after the 2012 season, Brown has slipped back into relative obscurity since.
With a lack of a proven starting safety to line up next to fellow free agent signing Rahim Moore, Stevie Brown will definitely get his shot to make an impact in the Texans’ secondary. If he can return to his 2012 form, the Texans safety pairing might prove to be one of the best in the NFL this season.
