The preseason is a great time for vets to simply play a quarter or so each game and get themselves warmed up for the upcoming season. Players such as defensive end J.J. Watt, running back Arian Foster and wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins will most likely see a couple of series in the first game and minimal time from there on.
Then when those stars on on the sidelines, the real battle begins. While most of us are watching the sideline interviews where the questions about the upcoming season are asked, young players are on the field trying to make a name for themselves and hope to show the coaches what they can do.
This season the Houston Texans have continued their overhaul of players and it looks like a fantastic time for an undrafted rookie, or an unknown young player to step up and take on a large role for the team.
Usually when a player is about to make such a leap, they begin to break out in the preseason games that so many of us mistakenly seem to view as meaningless. Let’s take a look at two players on each side of the ball to watch during the 2015 exhibition games.
