The key to Houston taking the next step towards becoming a fixture in the NFL Playoffs is developing offensive consistency. In recent years the team has struggled mightily with this, especially at the quarterback position.

While Matt Schaub had his seasons of leading the league in passing, he also had a season of historically poor play. Despite this, he was generally relatively consistent, whereas in 2014 Houston played four different quarterbacks. If they want to take the next step as a team they need to find a passer they can rely on every week, for years on end.

Aside from this, I think Houston is poised to become a perennial contender. With one of the best defenses in the league, a solid offensive line, and very talented skill players, all they need is efficient quarterback play.

The Bill O’Brien era looks to be the best period of Texans football yet, and I’m excited to see what’s in store. If they continue down their current path, it could only be a few short years before they are competing for an NFL Championship.
