Jason Ankrah, 6’4″ 265 Pounds, 24 Years Old

Jason Ankrah was an undrafted free agent in 2014 and only appeared in two games for the Houston Texans. He finished the season with only one tackle, but after seeing Brooks Reed head to Atlanta, he has a serious opportunity in front of him to try and get in the rotation at outside linebacker.

Some Background Info;

Ankrah played collegiately at Nebraska and showed progress each season he played for the Cornhuskers. After redshirting in 2009 he managed one tackle in 2010, but saw his totals climb each year after with 17, 26 and finally 36. He also saw his sack totals climb after none in 2010 he followed up with one, two and then four.

Maybe none of those stats are anything to write home about, but the solid improvement from the young man shows he is always working and willing to be coached up.

What To Expect This Year;

After losing Clowney to injury and placing him on the injured reserve, the Texans called Ankrah up from the practice squad. While he never was able to take advantage, look for the second year player to try and use his size to his advantage and work his way into the lineup for the Texans. The depth is minimal here, and the team is in the midst of a youth movement, which makes this the perfect opportunity for the young man to find his niche.
