It seems like almost every team now carries at least one guy on the roster who is under 5’10” and 190 pounds, and for the Texans that guy is Damaris Johnson, the former Eagle who caught 31 passes for 331 yards and one touchdown last year.

Some Background Info;

Another undrafted guy who found his way to an NFL roster and now with the Texans. He went to Philly after playing collegially at Tulsa.

Johnson, the all-purpose yardage leader for Tulsa, may not only have his size to blame for going undrafted, as he was also suspended in 2011 after his alleged role in an embezzlement complaint against his girlfriend per an ESPN report.

"Ashley said Jones, who works at a local Macy’s, is accused of selling more than $1,500 worth of merchandise to Johnson for just under $13 on one occasion. She is also accused of only charging him 34 cents for merchandise totaling $1,283."

He was picked up by Houston after being cut before the season began in 2014 and recently resigned with the team this offseason.

What To Expect This Year;

The thing that may help Johnson make the final roster over more polished receivers is his ability to play special teams, something older players usually cannot provide. Johnson has shown some ability as a return guy and if he can continue to improve on that area he may crack the final roster for Houston.

If he does not show enough as a return man, he may not be a Texan come opening day.
