Jonathan Grimes, 5’10” 209 Pounds, 25 Years Old
Jonathan Grimes I suppose is the “little guy” of the running back group as he checks in at 209 pounds, which is plenty big enough for an NFL running back, but not like the guys the team seems to rely heavily on. No, that was not a bad attempt at a pun.
Some Background Info;
Grimes was undrafted in 2012, just like Polk. He set just about every record a running back could at his alma mater William & Mary and owns the record there for most rushing attempts with 936, rushing yards with 4,541, kickoff returns with a total of 2,289 yards and all purpose yards, 7,955.
This is Grimes’ third stint with the Texans as he was placed on the practice squad his rookie year, but then picked up by the Jets. He returned to the Texans after that short stint in New York before being waived and he ended up coming back to the Texans again. The same song and dance happened again, but the Jets were simply replaced by the Jaguars.
What To Expect This Year;
Grimes will have an uphill battle to make the team in 2015 and may be cut once again by the Texans. If Grimes is on the final 53 man roster that most likely means an unfortunate injury happened, or a couple of guys ahead of him had a rough go in the preseason.
